Residential and Office Building at Schinkelplatz

Ano

A new block-type of building with 23 flats and an office building/wing is being built opposite the new City Palace in Berlin, at a construction site near Schinkelplatz. The grounds of the building consist of a completely enclosed courtyard with a cellar that is connected to nearby public space by way of an entrance that has a transparent gate.
The courtyard is given structure through several rectangles that have a variety of ‘fillings’. Lawn areas, ornamental grasses and annuals, pruned plants and black stone areas merge with one another, forming a variety of small, welcoming spaces. A small fountain emphasises the contemplative character this special place has.
