Togostraße Green Corridor

Togostraße, 13351 Berlin
Jaar
2015

The promenade is the first stage of an urban bicycle and open space link that will eventually run from Zeppelinplatz to Nachtigallplatz in the Berlin district of Wedding. In addition to providing sufficient seating for those who live in the neighbourhood, playground areas and the stations of a fitness trail line the course of the central pathway. The equipment used was chosen in consultation with local residents.
The adjoining traffic intersections were also rebuilt as part of this project, so that all the pedestrian crossings to the central promenade are now highly visible and barrier-free.
At the intersections of Togostraße and Kameruner Straße as well as Togostraße and Kongostraße barrier-free crossings were built that also serve as generous entrance areas with a variety of benches.
Because the project is located in the so-called “African Quarter”, that continent's cultural themes played a role in the design of the playground.
