The former, listed energy center of the port of brick is a sign of their Neuwidmung by a 7 ° inclined, enhanced 21-meter high tower of reinforced concrete, clad in a facade of green glass panels is. This tower stands in the place where originally the historic chimney of the boiler house was positioned. As a new landmark for the port area, the building marked the entrance of the Kunsthalle, where all the exhibition areas and the cafeteria will be opened in the old locomotive shed.

In the old building were 800 square meters of exhibition space in a room of 3.80 m to 5.50 m high. The historic window openings were closed in the area of the exhibition rooms and facades are faced with another gray steel plates. In the newly built tower located on the upper floors three exhibition cabinets. The top floor offers a view across the harbor. On the ground floor of the tower is the entrance hall, to be accessed from all the exhibition rooms and the café in the former engine shed. The tower consists of an insulated concrete construction, are provided a facade hides green, translucent glass panels made of laminated safety glass.
