Abbott Laboratories is a global healthcare company that is involved in the research, development, manufacture and marketing of pharmaceutical products, clinic products, medical nutrition and diagnostics products. The comany was founded in 1888 by the doctor Wallace C. Abbott and currently has approximately 72,000 employees worldwide.

Abbott Laboratories has been respresented in Germany since the mid 1960s. Approximately 1,900 employees work in Wiesbaden, which is the management headquarters for all commercial activities in Eruope.

The architects Christ + Christ have been working with Abbott Laboratoreis since 1979. This cooperation has resulted in adminstration, laboratory, warehouse and production buildings in various construction phases on the 7 ha site. Today the entirety of the individual buildings forms an urban ensemble, embedded in a park landscape. The buildings combine in an appealing manner and this attraction is emphasized throught the clarity of the shapes an their careful technical execution.

The individual buildings have been planned in accordance with the principle 'the only constant is change'. They include flexible systems that can adapt to changing needs, requirements and situations. It is not least this ability that has contributed to the company´s great success.
