Fire Station PreetzBack to Projects list
- An der Mühlenau 12, Preetz
- Stadt Preetz
The voluntary fire brigade of Preetz, with its 10 fire engines, is one of the largest in the state. The large glass gates offer a view into the engine pool and form a visible side toward the town. The engine pool is contained in a massive two-storey spatial strata. On the ground floor there are changing and sanitary rooms, as well as the spacious training room and other annexes. On the upper floor there are the control centre, a few offices as well as rooms for the fire brigade youth and an apartment for the equipment supervisor. The hall is, due to the glass gates, amply illuminated. The originally planned steel construction was, due to cost reasons, changed to a wood truss construction with concrete supports. The rigorous, cubic structure is enhanced with loggias, which, in their red colouring, radiate outwards. The control centre protrudes from the structure, from which there is an unhindered view of the apron and the engine pool. The perforated sheet facade partially covers the windows behind. The facade is made of perforated corrugated aluminium, which is mounted on a red coated profile sub-construction. Depending on the sun’s position, the silver of the corrugations, or the red of the sub-construction dominates. The interior design has been kept simple and functional.
