Timelessly elegant design at its best: Under the lead of REINHARDT und SANDER Gesellschaft mbH Planung und Baubetreuung, Bad Salzuflen, GEPLAN DESIGN designed the interior of the entrance hall and lobby as well as all gastronomy areas in the new Maritim Hotel and Congress Center in Ingolstadt. “A more intense teamwork with the client’s architects and interior designers as hardly ever before “, says Rolf Glantz, managing director of GEPLAN DESIGN. REINHARDT und SANDER designed the entire building as the general planners. The drafters are the architect and managing director of REINHARDT und SANDER, Markus Schützdeller as well as Rita Meise for the interior design.
Ingolstadt is doing well. The city profits from its central location in Bavaria, its good transport connection, its economic strength and the versatile offer it is providing for its constantly growing number of residents. All the more astonishing that an appropriate place for major conferences has been missing until recently. With the opening of the new Maritim Hotel and Congress Center on June 19, 2023, this has changed. It is directly located on the Danube, only a few minutes to walk to the riverside promenade or into the old town, and offers a free view onto the historical castle. After more than 20 years of being fallow land and a 600-year history as a fortress and industrial area, today, the “Quartier G – Alte Gießerei” with the Maritim Hotel and Congress Center is a new powerhouse for Ingolstadt and gives impulses for the entire region.
In the entrance area of the hotel, the reception welcomes guests in an expansive hall. To the right, a stairway leads upwards into the welcoming hotel lobby, which features something special: A section of it can be converted into a conference room. By means of a partition wall, here, at a prominent place directly near the entrance, a space of about 170 square meters can be separated from the public areas and be used for conferences. The open design of the room does not only provide a free view onto Danube and castle, but also towards the lobby and the reception of the hotel.
The physical and culinary well-being of guests is taken care of everywhere in the Maritim Hotel. One essential contribution is provided by the interior appealing to all senses and the associated, light atmosphere in the rooms. The restaurant Danubio with its expansive outdoor terrace above the Danube with its warm, rust red and copper-colored accents invites guests to linger. The ceiling was partially implemented as an acoustically effective metal-mirror-wave and reflects the light and atmosphere of the classically elegant ambience. Round pendant luminaires seem like metallic drops floating down from the ceiling. This way – and by using different shining and mirroring surface accents with warm colors – the planners make references to the foundry that was located on the premises in former times. In the cozy Café BarRISTA, in the elegant Bistro Ingold or in the hotel bar, too, round, metallic luminaires are shining as connecting elements. Carpets with patterns that were individually designed for this Maritim Hotel, the design of the walls with various textures, and preprogrammed light scenarios create an atmosphere in which all guests feel good.
