The public open space in this fourth phase of construction is not only of major importance to the Ackermannbogen neighbourhood, it is also an essential component in the open space system of Munich's northern city centre. This is because the main route between the Olympic Park local recreation area and the English garden runs right through the project site. In addition, the site serves as the new centre of public open space in the adjacent neighbourhood.
In order to strengthen continuity, the central urban plaza is being developed as part of this open space. Space for the plaza was created due to a spatial and functional densification of the network of paths on site. The plaza forms the urban centre within the public open space of the neighbourhood
The area of the green belt has numerous places that have special uses. And thus a generous space stretches between the buildings of the GWG, Gewofag and Wagnis eG. The space serves as a connection between northern and southern neighbourhoods, and for the buses that cross it as well as for bicyclists and pedestrians. It opens up to the areas in front of the buildings and connects the outdoor restaurant areas as well as access to the supermarket. In addition to the wooden benches of the green belt, a low, curving wall surrounds a paved water feature. On warm summer days children jump and play between the small fountains and water jets.
A neighbourhood garden been created on the open lawn east of the secondary school. The garden has a transparent fence running around it and is adjacent to a number of fields of various sizes that are used as allotment gardens gardens and projects. There are also areas along the paved path can be used for adult games.
A place of contemplation is nestled amongst the vegetation of the urban forest. Two entrances provide access to a small area paved with crop crushed aggregate that has movable seating. A tall metal construction covered with climbing roses and clematis forms a delicate canopy.
