Passion, Professionalism and Sustainability

The company zillerplus Architekten und Stadtplaner was founded by Michael Ziller, BDA Architect and Town Planner, in 1999. The architects concentrate on the aesthetic and structural changes in architecture and urban building brought about by the energy revolution. Michael Ziller studied architecture at the University and the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. Following study visits in Graz and at the MIT in Chicago, he freelanced in his own studio in Munich. From 2005 to 2008, Michael Ziller was Chairman of the BDA Munich and Upper Bavaria. One key focus of the work of the team of architects is the current requirements of living in an interaction with other urban forms of utilisation. Within this framework, adequate town-planning conditions and rooms as well as various usage options are being researched and developed along with resource-saving building envelopes and flexible structures. The results are not only urban structures and individual building objects but also product developments. The low-tech idea and the use of solar elements play an important part in the design process. As a contribution to the IBA Hamburg, Michael Ziller is implementing one of four exemplary ‘Smart Material Houses’, which combine adaptable building designs with intelligent technologies and building materials.
