Diploma in engineering/architecture. Born in Remscheid in 1961, he studied architecture at the RWTH Aachen from 1983 to 1990. As a member of the student planning group Artecta, he won the Schinkel Prize in 1989.

Work in the office of Prof. Jörg Friedrich, Hamburg (1990 to 1991), as project head in the office HPP Hentrich-Petschnigg und Partner, Hamburg (1991 to 1995), and head of office at HPP, Dresden (1995 to 1999); also project head for building clients at ABG Allgemeine Baubetreuungsgesellschaft, Cologne (1999 to 2002). In 2003 he joined ASTOCArchitects and Planners, where he has been a CEO since 2009.
