Diploma in engineering/architecture BDA. Born in Cologne in 1963, he studied architecture at the RWTH Aachen from 1983 to 1990. As a member of the student planning group Artecta, he won the Schinkel Prize in 1989.

In 1990 he founded the office ASTOC Architects and Planners with Kees Christiaanse, Oliver Hall and Markus Neppl. He has been a member of Cologne City Planning Committee since 2008 and a board member of the BDA NRW since 2009. He became president of the Architektur Forum Rheinland e.V. in 2011.
